HLP Project Management Unit successfully completed the HLP Institutionalization workshop titled “Stakeholders’ Workshop on Institutionalization of HLP in Bangladesh” at Le Méridien Hotel on 30th August 2022.

Institutionalization of Horizontal Learning Project (HLP) in Bangladesh is an outcome-based ‘Peer Learning’ and Innovative project run by the National Institute of Local Government (NILG) under the Local Government Division with support from Switzerland. The Project Management Unit successfully completed one of the important events, i.e., Institutionalization the workshop titled “Stakeholders’ Workshop on Institutionalization of HLP in Bangladesh” at Le Méridien hotel on 30th August 2022.

The inaugural session of the workshop was presided by Md. Moniruzzaman, Joint Secretary and Director Training & Consultancy NILG. Dr. Malay Choudhury, Additional Secretary, Local Government Division graced the occasion as chief guest. Honorable Member of Parliament and Adviser of Prip Trust Mrs. Aroma Dutta was present in the inaugural session of the workshop as the guest of honor. Ms. Corinne Henchoz Pignani, Deputy Head of Co-operation, Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh was present as a special guest in the inaugural event of the workshop. Senior officials from LGD, ERD, IMED, Planning Commission and senior Faculty of NILG actively participated in the workshop. Senior officials from all the supporting partner NGOs of HLP project, i.e, Breaking the Silence, Helvetas, Shushilon, Prip Trust, WaterAid Bangladesh and its consortium partners were the important participants of the workshop. Officials of other NGOs previously worked in HLP initiatives were also present in this workshop. JICA expert in local governance also present in the workshop. Director General of NILG provided his valuable opinions and suggestion during discussion session of the workshop. The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Santanu lahiri, Consultant of World Bank and HLP expert. All the Project Management Unit (PMU) officials provided backup support in this important workshop.

The main objective of the workshop is to develop strategies for future continuation of HLP project thematic activities by the supporting NGOs after ending of the project in September 2022. Detail discussion of the present activities of the supporting NGOs and cooperation with NILG in HLP activities were held in the workshop.

In the noon session Director General of NILG Mr. Saleh Ahmed Mujaffor (Additional Secretary) joined the workshop as special guest and provided valuable direction in future institutionalization process of HLP initiative in Bangladesh.

Lastly Project Director of HLP Md. Israt Hossain Khan (Joint Secretary) thanked all the participants of the workshop for their keen interest and support in successful implementation of the workshop and concluded the workshop.
